BAN and AFG share trophy after persistent rain drains out final

24 September, 2019

Due to incessant rain, the summit clash of the T20I tri-series final between Bangladesh and Afghanistan in Dhaka was abandoned without a single ball being bowled, on Tuesday (September 24). With no reserve day in place, the trophy was shared between the two sides.

As a result of incessant rain, the toss also didn't take place. At around 8.50 PM local time, the rain relented a bit, but by then it was quite clear that the groundsmen didn't have enough time on their hands to get the ground ready before the cut-off time of 9.40 PM. Eventually, the umpires decided to call off the game.

Bangladesh and Afghanistan qualified for the final on the back of winning three and two games respectively in the round-robin phase of the tournament
