2nd September,Monday-Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga became the highest wicket taker in T20I with 99 wickets by breaking the record of Shahid Afridi. He broke the record in the first T20 against New Zealand.
Malinga equaled the record of 98 wickets of Shahid Afridi in the first over of the New Zealand innings by dismissing Colin Munro and then went on to dismiss Colin De Grandhomme to surpass the record in his 74th match. Afridi took 99 matches to take 98 wickets.
He retired from test cricket in 2011 and recently retired from ODIs.Malinga is known for his brilliant yorkers and made his T20 debut in 2006.
New Zealand won the first T20 by 5 wickets. New Zealand chased the target 0f 174 runs in the last over of the match because of brilliant knocks of De Grandhomme and Ross Taylor.
